Economics of culture
Economics of culture is the international version of the master’s degree "Economics of culture: policies, management and governance", one of the first in Italy (and now in its eighth edition) to offer a course on the relationship between economics and culture.
The Master’s is designed for those interested in culture management at the international level. Taking into consideration local specificities, the course analyses management theories through experiences in the valorisation of historical memory in Italy, so that they can be applied to the organisation of events, the management of museums, foundations, opera houses, theatres and archaeological sites, and the valorisation of a city or an area.
Thanks to the success of this course, which has been running for eight years and provided training to over 350 specialists, some of the world’s top researchers and experts are involved in the didactics. Didactic methodology involves the teaching of theory based on the study of fundamental literature and video lessons for in-depth analysis of best practices.
The master’s looks at the economics, management, jurisprudence and design of major cultural themes: art, entertainment, tourism, technology, and religious heritage.

The Masters in English is divided into six learning modules and one orientation module

Orientation module: Compass The first module provides an overall view of supply and demand in the international culture industry, compares civil and common law and introduces the student to terminology that is commonly used in the cultural sector.

Module I: Tourism Analyses cultural tourism themes, especially those relating to cities, parks, the less well know places areas, and routes.

Module II: Entertainment Examines cultural aspects linked to leisure time both in terms of both niche and mass markets. Looks at new trends in cultural dissemination and communication methodologies for cultural activities linked to the cinema, the radio, and events.

Module III: Heritage Takes a detailed look at the policies, governance and management of archaeological sites, monuments, museums and all cultural heritage of interest to the community.

Module IV: Technology Looks at ways of applying cultural communication to new communication methodologies and instruments such as the Internet, video art, virtual tours.
Module V: Art Takes an in-depth look at the cultural economy in terms of exhibitions, museums, performing arts, handicrafts, and provides instruments needed to design, manage and control related initiatives.
